Neste’s production page is the source for this profile. The company lists renewable-fuel production at Porvoo in Finland, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and Singapore, plus the Martinez joint venture in California. Renewable products have been made at Rotterdam since 2011 and at Singapore since 2010. Porvoo still refines crude oil. The page says Neste plans to transform Porvoo gradually into a renewable-products site. It does not say that transformation is finished.
Nameplate capacity for renewable products is about 5.5 million tons a year, and the page says that total includes Martinez. The page does not publish how the tons split among Porvoo, Rotterdam, Singapore, and Martinez. This profile does not invent that split. Sluiskil, in the Netherlands, is listed as pretreatment, not as a fuel plant.
On feedstocks, the page names used cooking oil, animal fat from food-industry waste, and residues from vegetable-oil processing. It says waste and residues are about 90 percent of renewable raw material in a year. It says Neste MY Renewable Diesel and Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel can be made entirely from waste and residues, using the company’s NEXBTL process.
The page says Porvoo, Rotterdam, and Singapore hold ISCC certification or an EPA approval, and ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 45001 certificates. Neste’s 50 percent stake in Martinez, and the 2023 start, are on this page. Marathon’s gallon figure for that plant is on the Martinez profile and should not be added to the 5.5 million tons.
