HF Sinclair’s Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2025, says the company owned and operated a renewable diesel unit at Artesia, New Mexico, with capacity of about 135 million gallons a year. The unit is co-located with the Navajo refineries and includes the Artesia pretreatment unit. The 10-K says the company’s renewable diesel units process soybean oil and other renewable feedstocks, and that renewable diesel from these units is sold in California, Oregon, Utah, and Canada. It says the Artesia pretreatment unit serves all three of the company’s renewable diesel units.
The company’s Artesia facility page says the pretreatment unit was completed in 2022 and gives the renewable diesel unit a rate of 9,000 barrels a day. It says the unit has feedstock flexibility that includes unrefined soybean oil, animal fats, and distillers corn oil.
The company says renewable diesel has 50 to 80 percent lower lifecycle greenhouse-gas emissions, with the result depending on the feedstock. That is the company’s comparison, not a figure this site has recalculated.
