The same Diamond Green Diesel financial statements describe a second plant, at Port Arthur, Texas, next to Valero’s Port Arthur refinery. It began operating in 2022. Reported capacity is about 470 million gallons a year of renewable diesel and about 20 million gallons a year of renewable naphtha. Ownership, products, and the feedstock list match the St. Charles plant: a 50/50 venture of Valero’s Diamond Alternative Energy and Darling’s Darling Green Energy, running predominantly on animal fats, used cooking oil, vegetable oils, and inedible distillers corn oil.
On sustainable aviation fuel, the filing says a project started in the fourth quarter of 2024, with an option to upgrade about 50 percent of the Port Arthur plant’s renewable-diesel capacity to neat SAF. That is the company’s description of a project and an option. It is not a statement that half the plant’s renewable diesel has already become aviation fuel.
